Ornamental Grasses by 1838 Wallcoveings is based on a printed cotton furnishing or chintz held in the V&A’s textile collection that was originally produced in the 1870s by Hindley’s on Oxford Street, London. These block-printed cottons were particularly popular among the middle and upper classes in Britain and were used primarily for home furnishings, such as curtains and bedspreads.
